Both bugs Pablo linked to look like duplicates. People are still reporting it as an issue. However, they are lacking any detail as to whether they are using Mesa driver or the Intel one.
I'm experiencing this exact issue. Just to be clear about the mesa vs. Intel driver: The mesa driver is unbearably slow, but the screen is not black.
