Still occurs on wine-2.18 (not staging). Switching CSMT on and off (via
regedit) follows the behavior I described.

This happens using VirtualDub's default settings (Use DirectX for display panes
checked). Unchecking this option is a workaround (presumably this way
VirtualDub uses something else for rendering which isn't affected). I will
attach a screenshot of the (default) settings causing the problem.
