the APIC identification is failing under Wine.
I am unclear as to what you mean by this. The APIC is returned in bits 31...24 of EBX after issuing a CPUID 1 instruction. Wine/*nix can not affect the operation of the CPUID instruction, it's just like any other unprivileged x86 instruction. Have you run SIV on your system ? Does the failure get shown on your system please ? I would like to get an idea if this is just a ubuntu Linux issue.
