Well, if it has worked with the new version but not with the old one, it would not have meant the bug had been fixed, right?
Hard to say. The author could've changed the code around, making this issue moot.
But it actually works with the old version, so you can close this bug - sorry I did not test it by myself, but open source alternatives emerged in those three years and I do not do subtitling much anymore, so I did not have that much urge to.
