It really looks to me that you somehow corrupted the steam instal and/or data files.
- Please remove / rename the ~/.wine directory - Install Steam (following HOWTO on AppDB) - Copy "Program Files/Steam/steamapps" directory from windows. Make sure to properly set permissions (644 on files and 755 on directories) and ownership
Thanks for that.
