I 1st thought game hanged, but as I pressed ctrl+alt+backspace, before restoring kde session I noticed that there was some dialog, which I assume is the dialog Austin mentiones at comment 1. I was able to enter some map, which definitely was lacking some graphics, also the main menu lacks texts, debug log is full of "fixme:d3dx:ID3DXFontImpl_DrawTextA..." lines.
