maybe you misunderstood ... Wine supports most DRM schemes.
It should work as long as you start the game with properly mounted original
physical media.
I tested a game with SafeDisc 4.x DRM some time ago and it worked fine.

If you don't happen to have the physical media for whatever reasons you
obviously need no-cd, yes.
