Hearts of Iron 3 crashes whilst leading at "Map properly initialized"

Seems to be same problem as Daniel Spies.  As another note i have the game
working fine on an older PC with the same linux setup (64bit Ubuntu 9.04 on
EXT4), this older PC has a nVidia 7900GT graphics card.
