[Bug 24260] Crash when rendering starts on certain HL2 (Source)-based games

Hate replying immediately after posting, but I forgot some details.

System:
AMD Phenom x3
4GB RAM
Gentoo Linux
Kernel 2.6.35
nVidia GeForce 8600GT, 256.53 drivers

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch works properly, and I don't believe it was updated with
the recent patch.  I haven't been able to test Half-Life 2: Lost Coast on this
machine due to a different bug.
