With the latest wine problem is solved.

You should use directx9 (not d3dx9) installation from winetricks-alpha.

Also game runs well with
DirectDrawRenderer=opengl
Multisampling=enabled
OffscreenRenderingMode=fbo
VideoMemorySize=your_video-card_memory_size
