You are running the dx10/11 version of the game.

fixme:gameux:GameExplorerImpl_VerifyAccess (0x156fe8, L"C:\\Program
Files\\Ubisoft\\Ubisoft Game Launcher\\games\\Assassin's Creed
1\\AssassinsCreed_Dx10.exe", 0x33f758)

cd into that directory and start the exe with dx9 in the name.
