I use Archlinux x86_64 on Macbook Air (2012).
I doubt that window manager affects this in any way. I use Openbox and I tried
with and without Compton compositor, doesn't matter.

Seems more like it is a problem with some 32bit library.
I'll try it in Virtualbox on 32bit and 64bit guest and post results here.
