Well, I'd say Windows "workarounds" it in similar way - REGEDIT5 is the default
on XP.

Still, while probably nothing can be done on command line, couldn't GUI at
least pop up a warning of "Some of the keys were probably exported incorrectly"
in REGEDIT4 case after such export ?

(and I still think a WONTFIX is more fitting for this case than INVALID)
