In the original commit, the removal of this is dubious and unexplained, so I can only guess what the original code does. In practice, it has nothing to do with fullscreen or not, the application runs identically regardless of being in a virtual desktop, or freely, it goes fullscreen right after start anyway. The only difference this makes is receiving mouse clicks.
