which video card and drivers do you have? bug 12304 also mentions black screen.
woops wrong severity. video card is nVidia 8800GT. driver is nvidia-glx-new version 169.12. is this what u wanted? and bug 12304 wasnt similar enough firstly intro movies and the logo's work just not after the main menu, so i created a separate bug report.
