I also had the same issue when I was running KOTOR on UBUNTU 7.10, wine 9.59,
AMD Athalon box with NVIDIA 6200 card using the proprietary NVIDIA driver. I'm
just writing to confirm that what David has said here is correct. Disabling the
hardware mouse corrected the behavior for me too.
