I no longer have a Linux system handy running Xorg (I have switched to mac for GUI systems). I have tested the GalCiv II Ultimate Edition digital download via Wineskin using WINE 2.3 staging as the "engine", and the game appears to launch and run perfectly, although it does display some warning popups before launching. In short, I can no longer reproduce this bug on the system I have available to me. Because to my knowledge, nobody else ever reproduced this, and I can no longer reproduce this, I am marking this RESOLVED - WORKSFORME.
