Hmm, it doesn't seem to work here. wine-1.3.37-329-gaf3d368

Page shows: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Win32)

It should show: Mozilla/4.0 (testing useragent)

-> This means applications can't set their own useragent.

Workaround winetricks ie8
