I just checked and manually extracting the installer does appear to work around the issue. I've just started testing the Battelog.co launcher - from the manual extraction - in a clean 32-bit Wineprefix - with the .Net 4.5 libraries installed. I was able to download the full BF2 game and Special forces expansion - using the Battlelog.co launcher. The launcher did crash after this - but this may have been during a post-install verification check of the installed game (or similar). I will investigate further. If I can reproduce this issue - I'll file a separate bug report for this problem... When the launcher was re-started... The BF2 game did appear to have installed OK - the launcher appears to work without any obvious issues. I was able to use it to launch BF2 (the version I had just downloaded). Online game play and single player gameplay appear to be working fine... So that's definitely a step forwards!
