Could you retry with current git or 1.1.30 when that's released?
Pardon my ignorance, but what is the "git"? I'm a fairly new Ubuntu user and am not entirely familiar with the terminology.
That's the version control system Wine uses, see http://wiki.winehq.org/GitWine. 1.1.30 was just released though, I expect Ubuntu packages will be available soon as well.
