patching file dlls/ntdll/misc.c
patching file dlls/ntdll/string.c
patching file dlls/ntdll/tests/string.c

CC="ccache gcc" ./configure --verbose && make depend && make

./wine "C:\Program Files\FireTrust\MailWasher Pro\MailWasher.exe"

and the problem is gone, so yes reverting the patch solves it
