I'm assuming you have plenty of RAM (2 to 4 GB). Things to try: 1) use a newer wine (latest is wine-1.3.6 ) 2) try 'winetricks glsl-disable' and see if that helps a bit 3) play with game settings - sometimes 3) get a faster graphics card; the gt240 is decent and relatively cheap It's a hard problem. People complain about the framerate even on Windows, and then Wine has its own penalty (50% or so, judging from other games).
