update: looks like the issue is related to SSL.

League client logs:
000000.728|  ERROR| ClientWebSocketTransport: After SSL_connect SSL_get_error
returned 5...
000000.728|  ERROR| ClientWebSocketTransport: SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL - The
underlying BIO reported an I/O error

i have all the SSL packages installed on Arch, including 32bit ones. (GNUTLS)
