Since the free download is dead and no response for 3 years. I would close this bug. There are other compiler bugs open that most likely expose the same issues.
Also this bug has no log to start working with.
I tested the game with vanilla Wine 1.9.18 on a clean 32-bit Wineprefix on Gentoo (64-bit). Test hardware/driver: Nvidia Geforce 970M and proprietary driver version 370.23. Only Steam & Limbo installed. I removed the bundled (Limbo) DirectX installer. I can't reproduce this bug any more.
