In between I was able to narrow down the text corruption. It seems as if part
of this comes from using Windows NT mode in winecfg. If you start the
application in Windows XP mode (sometimes it is startable - see bug 18569) the
display will show less text corruption. Screenshot of XP Mode is attached.
