Probably the test should fail if memory allocation fails. I'm not sure why memory allocation is failing in your case. The fact that the log is so enormous suggests that: 1) There's a memory leak.
Well, I ran the tests under valgrind, and it doesn't report any leak. So I'm not sure I can do a lot.
