Characters appear without those annoying artefacts around them, when advanced lighting option is enabled. Fixed by http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/a04f0e9c789295c22aab6e0d3b3239d... Please re-test the game with 1.3.27 or newer, and report back what you find.
