You can start native applications directly from Wine only if you specify the full path or use the shell: /usr/bin/glxgears or /bin/sh -c glxgears You might also need winepath to translate the filename from Windows format to Linux format (see next question). It can be very useful, for some programs. For example, in one of my app, I need to run java to do some tasks.
