Yes, in theory, it is up to them to pull it in.  But they're not going to for a
LONG time -- in practice, there's no chance that this will be fixed before
Ubuntu 10.04, in April, for instance.

Putting in the workaround for now, or making it at least available as an
option, would allow users on actual distributions which exist to use WINE
without horrible key repeat problems.
