[Bug 19649] Configure does not check the presence of libXext

I found out that the configure checks for this library, but does not generate
an error output when it is not present.

Result from configure:
"checking for -lXext... not found                                               
"
It is that I have no experience with this configure, otherwise I would love to
make a diff with a working configure.
