[Bug 30404] Galactic Civilizations 1: severe slowdown during ships battles

A workaround to this bug is thus; 

Play the game in a virtual desktop. Whenever a battle happens, keep dragging
the window outside your desktop. The fight happens in realtime when it's drawn
off-screen. I wonder if a setting can be done to do this for me.

In fact, Just putting another window in front of the battle also has the same
effect.
