I know this bug and it was discussed here: http://www.batboard.net/board5-therapiepl-tze/board109-therapieplatz-version... But it is caused by The Bat! and wine. At this time The Bat! was beta. So not relevatn for wine. This bug instead was as Alexandre supposed caused by the graphic driver and/or X. So it is obsolete.
Far as I am concerned this bug is out of date. I use The Bat! 5.xx as my primary email client and it's working fine...
