Steam version using Wine 1.5.8 and I can not reproduce. Mouse and keyboard seem to work just fine. I tried it with a joystick connected to see if it could be a problem, but it works as expected too. The game does hide the mouse pointer when I start pressing the joystick, but it comes back if I touch the mouse again. OP should retest with newest wine. If the bug is still present post more details.
