[Bug 15702] New: Only first USB joystick (js0) of two is activated/available with Wine
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15702 Summary: Only first USB joystick (js0) of two is activated/available with Wine Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: heliflyer(a)arcor.de My two USB-joysticks (js0, js1) - which are pedals and joystick - work without problems with all native Linux simulations like FlightGear, Torcs, etc. With Wine and all Windows simulations ONLY the first joystick (js0) is activated/available, no matter which order I use. It is not a matter of the second joystick (js1), if I plug it as js0 it is working/available in the sim and the former js0 - now js1 - is now not available. My two USB-joysticks (js0, js1) - which are pedals and joystick - work without problems with all native Linux simulations like FlightGear, Torcs, etc.
With Wine and all Windows simulations ONLY the first joystick (js0) is activated/available, no matter which order I use.
It is not a matter of the second joystick (js1), if I plug it as js0 it is working/available in the sim and the former js0 - now js1 - is now not available.

Hi Vitaliy, thank you very much for the fast reply. I "chmod 777 event*" and it works. There are now two additional entries in the joystick selection menu => event3 and event4. In total I find 3 entries: HIDxxxx (=js0), event3 (=js0), event4 (=js1). Hopefully the O/S does not reset the status of /dev/input/event* once I restart my PC. This was very important for me, therefore once again thanks a lot :-) Georg, Bremen, Germany -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15702 --- Comment #5 from Georg Vollnhals <heliflyer(a)arcor.de> 2008-10-23 15:04:55 --- A last remark from my side: This "trick" works very fine BUT you have to "chmod" the event* files every time you start your PC as the system sets all back. Therefore I hope the Wine developers can find another way to solve this bug in the long time. Open bug with out distro to configure HAL properly so you have read/write access to joystick devices. Those are user devices and you (as user) have to have access to them. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
