https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38376 Bug ID: 38376 Summary: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Steam) launcher.exe fails to start (crashes), installed thro PlayOnLinux Product: Wine Version: 1.7.36 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: lwjohnst(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 51223 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=51223 Backtrace of the log output for the errors and crash report I have tried installing Skyrim on Ubuntu 14.04 several times. Whether I install Steam separate and then install Skyrim, or if I install Skyrim via PlayOnLinux, it crashes at the splash screen. And while I have a 64bit laptop, I use (I believe) the 32 bit version of Wine for Steam/Skyrim installs. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38376 --- Comment #1 from Ken Sharp <imwellcushtymelike(a)gmail.com> --- PlayOnLinux is not supported. Is this still an issue in Wine 1.7.44 or later? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This really shouldnt be an issue, definitely not with POL that can swap between versions.
POL scripts often use unnecessary overrides, outdated and/or patched Wine versions, or all three. Bug reports should be based on a clean wineprefix using the latest development release of plain Wine. I play Skyrim, and can't reproduce the problem. Since the OR never responded, marking WORKSFORME. Reopen if you still have the problem in plain 1.7.47 or later and are willing and able to provide requested information. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I'm not tech-savvy enough (yet) in Wine to *not* use POL. After reinstalling everything and starting from stratch (and doing a few other things), Skyrim now works for me. Not really sure what actually fixed it, but changing status to FIXED. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Nothing was fixed in wine. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
