[Bug 10747] New: Cool Edit Pro 2.0 evaluation/full hangs at splash screen
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10747 Summary: Cool Edit Pro 2.0 evaluation/full hangs at splash screen Product: Wine Version: 0.9.50. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-x11driver AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: julkinen(a)adicon.org No problems with installation. When starting coolpro2.exe, the splash screen hangs at "Resetting menus" with the following errors at the console: err:x11drv:X11DRV_CreateWindow invalid window width -6 err:x11drv:X11DRV_CreateWindow invalid window width -5 (I pasted them here because these 2 lines are ALL the messages in the console). Tested with winver 98 and windows 2000, with window manager managed windows and virtual desktop. All the same. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10747 garnet(a)signalpeak.net changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |garnet(a)signalpeak.net --- Comment #2 from garnet(a)signalpeak.net 2008-04-29 11:06:35 --- I'd like to bring this bug report back to life, as Cool Edit is my last remaining windows app that does not yet work on wine. In reply to Comment #1, there are no hidden windows behind the splash screen. However, the app is at the point when it would create the main window. The app appears to go into a loop at this point. The error messages mentioned in the initial bug report no longer appear, and in fact there are NO error messages. I did a winedebug with the following command: WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+relay,+msi wine "C:\Program Files\coolpro2\coolpro2.exe" &> /tmp/log.txt The resulting log is HUGE, 59MB. I could upload it if requested, or I could run winedebug with different options. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Also this bug also occurs in 2.1 version as well as Adobe Audition (same thing). What i found strange is that Audition 1.5 doesn't have this problem, yet the older cool edit and audition 1 does.. did they solve the problem first? or wasn't it a problem - 'cause 1.5 isn't really that different - it doesn't really have any major changes to the code - just spectrum editing and some extra filters.. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Mysterious bug.... I tried a few hacks to get further but it still hangs. There 's an endless sequence of GetMenuItemInfoA and some other calls. I guess it's a bug in wine's usere32. From e-mail:
"Austin, I've given up on this. My computer had an Intel 865 chipset motherboard in it, which I recently upgraded to a G43. Windows 98 will not run at all on a G43. I downloaded trial versions of Adobe Audition, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0. Only 1.5 would run under wine, so I purchased a full version of it at Amazon.com. I no longer run Cool Edit, it went away with my Windows 98 system. Maybe wine will get fixed some day and will run Cool Edit, but it's too late for me. Garnet" It's got a download available, so let's keep it open, but if it ever goes missing, let's close it abandoned. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
