[Bug 29059] New: Many games crash with a segmentation fault on launch
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29059 Bug #: 29059 Summary: Many games crash with a segmentation fault on launch Product: Wine Version: 1.3.32 Platform: x86 URL: http://www.gamefront.com/files/839372/resistancedemo.z ip OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69(a)gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 37442 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=37442 backtrace Since I've upgraded to Fedora 16 I realized that many of my games refuse to start in Wine: all the affected games are crashing right after started. Other games are still running fine. All previously working Wine versions now exhibit the problem. This happens with Nvidia drivers 285.05.09 as well as with 290.06. I couldn't revert to Nvidia 280.13 (which was good on F15) because it doesn't support X Server 1.11.x I also tried recompiling Wine with former gcc (4.5.3) but the result was the same. This bug report is the result of a conversation with jhgf in the Wine IRC channel. Fedora 16 x86 Kernel 3.1.0-7.fc16.i686.PAE gcc version 4.6.2 20111027 (Red Hat 4.6.2-1) (GCC) glibc-2.14.90-14.i686 Nvidia 250 / driver 290.06 X.Org X Server 1.11.1 The first attachment contains a backtrace generated by winedbg --gdb when trying to start Operation Flashpoint demo (link added to URL). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29059 GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution| |INVALID --- Comment #2 from GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> 2011-11-11 10:57:24 CST --- After doing some tests on Fedora 16 with the guidance of jhgf in IRC, this seems to be either a distro or Nvidia specific bug. ... jhgf: mogorva: this means it's not a wine bug jhgf: now we have to assign blame to somebody else jhgf: PUK!!!! puk: what could you possibly want? ... jhgf: puk: ld can't relocate the nvidia gl libs on f16 and you work for readhat so it's clearly your fault :) puk: Fedora is a community project puk: and b.) puk: use noveau stringfellow: yeah, you'll pretty much have to blame that on nvidia I think ... Marking INVALID then (not a Wine bug). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
