The game keeps spamming with "something very funny about your video card" all the way through loading. You just have to hold enter or ESC all the time, as dialog constantly reappears. Game is usable once you get past it. Tested on current wine, mesa r600g git driver with ati radeon hd3300 integrated graphics. Launched the game, picked to exit from the menu, confirmed. Game crashes at the end, after exiting, but the same thing happens on my windows xp installation. No crashes in the game, also after that loading dialog mess, rest of the game seems not to obstruct the player with that dialog, nor crash. Created attachment 40939 [details] patch
This patch should help.
The patch indeed fixes the startup problem, and the demo exits cleanly now. However, a new problem occured: the menu is empty, occasionally menu options are flashing in and out as I move the mouse pointer, but most of the time it remains empty. Henri, have you also noticed this? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Now it starts without errors but then it crashes when exiting! GyB i can't reproduce the thing you're saying. Menù works well for me and i have no flashes... Anyway, if this can help you, i've encountered your problem in old wine versions, in particular wine < 1.1.25, where there was no "something very funny..." bug, but playing was still hard with those flashes. Henri, you can implement the patch into the next wine version, cause it works. P.S. I attached a new log of my last trial... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Okay, if the patch works for you, that's fine. For the sake of completeness: - I tested with the demo version as I don't have the full version of the game - patch applied on Wine 1.5.8 (no PlayonLinux here) - Fedora 17 (x86), Gnome 3.4.2, X.Org X Server 1.12.2 - Nvidia 250 gfx card, proprietary driver 295.59 - ALSA 1.0.25 (Pulseaudio is not running) - gcc version 4.7.0 20120507 (Red Hat 4.7.0-5) (GCC) one more note: also tested with the open source Nouveau driver: the originally reported problems (error messages on startup and crash on exit) don't occur in vanilla Wine 1.5.8. On the other hand, the game is unplayable with Nouveau, because models and text are not drawn correctly. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

If there are additional issues those probably deserve their own bug report, but if e.g. the crash on exit from comment 13 happens on native Windows as well that's obviously not a Wine bug. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
