Additional info:  forgot to mention before that I used the following:
GSAK (any version, but latest is 6.6.3)
WINEDEBUG=trace+relay, trace+exec

GSAK uses GPSBabel, which appears to work alone, but requires either a serial or
USB port configuration.  However, this is not neede to reproduce this result.
