[Bug 38092] New: Audio Channell mute/mixed/wrong volume
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38092 Bug ID: 38092 Summary: Audio Channell mute/mixed/wrong volume Product: Wine Version: 1.7.34 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: maxmusterm(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- This bug was introduced in wine-1.7.34 and is still present in the newest version. I noticed the problem in Square Enix games (but it's probably in any program that uses multiple audio channels). To reproduce the problem you can play Final Fantasy XIII and get no voices in cutscenes or you can play life is strange and get wrong audio volumes (or so it sounds), especially easy to spot in the classroom scene from the beginning. You can hear the teacher but he is too quiet. It seems as if low volume channels are suddenly loud and loud channels are suddenly quiet, that's why I added the "mixed". The problem isn't present in 1.7.33 and I will later get more detailed debugging information. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38092 --- Comment #2 from Max Mustermann <maxmusterm(a)gmail.com> --- Oh stupid of me to forget to mention that.Yeah tried it, but it didn't change a thing. I changed it to mono, stereo and surround. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38092 --- Comment #3 from Max Mustermann <maxmusterm(a)gmail.com> --- The exact same bug is mentioned here https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=31665&iTesting... Although it refers to this bug report here https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37957 This bug is marked as fixed thought, but my problem still exists. I changed every output device to surround sound (and tried mono as well) but the missing voices are still missing. Downgrading to 1.7.33 is my only workaround at the moment. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38092 --- Comment #4 from Andrew Eikum <aeikum(a)codeweavers.com> --- Max, can you give us a description of your physical hardware speaker layout, and what you have winecfg set to, and any relevant settings in the game itself? Then, generate and attach a log with the channels from <http://wiki.winehq.org/Sound>. Play your game just long enough to reproduce the issue, as the log will grow large very quickly. You'll probably want to compress the log before attaching it. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Second I think you should know that I run wine-staging 1.7.53 right now, but it happens with vanilla wine as well. Third I use no pulseaudio - although I tried it in pure desperation. I tried Life is Strange on quite a few different hardware setups like my htpc over hdmi, over headset/speaker and 2 different laptops. The dump I will post was generated by my laptop a w520 thinkpad 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04) Everything in winecfg is set to internal audio and internal audio is set to stereo (I tried the other options like mono and surround as well, just to be exhaustive) I included the whole log (I use it over steam so there should be some unnecessary stuff and I hope that the steam cruft doesn't take away from game debugging) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38092 --- Comment #6 from Max Mustermann <maxmusterm(a)gmail.com> --- Oh f* me I played around with it for a while (since this is a fresh setup) and found myself with sound after installing openal. I think it works now completly, I just wonder why it didn't work before although it worked with 1.7.33 (I downgraded my wine version and it worked.) I will post again in a few hours and tell you if you can actually close this -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38092 --- Comment #7 from Andrew Eikum <aeikum(a)codeweavers.com> --- Installing openal? Do you mean with winetricks, or openal for your operating system? If the latter, then maybe the game switched to use xaudio2 (very recently implemented in Wine) instead of dsound. It makes sense that surround sound regressed in 1.7.34, since there was work done on surround sound in dsound during that release. I'm downloading FF13 now (it's huuuuuge!) to try to reproduce this on my end. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38092 --- Comment #8 from Max Mustermann <maxmusterm(a)gmail.com> --- I really meant on my operating system and not with winetricks. And yes it works. I will test it with ff as well (even thought the game was one of the worst in a while) But it seems to work now so pheew -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
