[Bug 37222] New: Office 2010 no longer installs usably.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37222 Bug ID: 37222 Summary: Office 2010 no longer installs usably. Product: Wine Version: 1.6.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: emm.charpentier(a)free.fr Created attachment 49494 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=49494 Backtrace after a first failed run of WinWord 2010 This does not happens with Ubuntu packages of Wine 1.6.2, but happens with recent versions of the Debian (jessie) packaged version of wine (a Debian bug report is underway). The installation runs normally. When starting Winword for the first time, it aks for name and initial, then displays a "configuration" progress bar, then asks for a reboot. If one clicks on yes, thge rebooot fails and gives an error message. When asking for details, one gets the enclosed backtrace. If one refuses to reboot, the normal Winword appears, but cannot be activated. In short, the result is an unusable MS Office. This seems to be a recent regression : an nstallation worked fine in february, IIRC. But the Debian package is more recent than that. It might also be Debian-specific. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37222 --- Comment #1 from Rosanne DiMesio <dimesio(a)earthlink.net> --- I can't reproduce this; Office 2010 installs fine in openSUSE 12.3 and Wine 1.7.25 in a clean 32 bit wineprefix. Upgrade to the latest development release and retest in a clean wineprefix. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Re-marking it as "unconfirmed" : While Roseanne DiMesio was unable to reproduce (on another platform), Austin English's "Likely a packaging bug" with no other explanation is a little short on explanation. Wine packaging may have triggered an existing Wine bug. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37222 Emmanuel Charpentier <emm.charpentier(a)free.fr> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|RESOLVED |UNCONFIRMED Resolution|UPSTREAM |--- --- Comment #5 from Emmanuel Charpentier <emm.charpentier(a)free.fr> --- Further trials show that the problem is not distribution-bound : wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Microsoft\ Office/Office14/WINWORD.EXE ==> failure as described above. wine start /unix .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Microsoft\ Office/Office14/WINWORD.EXE ==> success. wine "c:\program files\microsoft office\office14\winword.exe" ==> success also. This is reproductible under Debian (Jessie) and Ubuntu (14.04.1). I was misdirected by the fact that, currently, Debian Jessie's "application menu" extension to Gnome doesn't display my "Wine" menu content, directing me to my (simplistic) use of command line, whereas the Ubuntu menu uses "start /unix" + a Unix path to a Windows shortcut (.lnk). Michael Gilbert, of the Debian Wine gang explains that "Wine doesn't really support unix paths anymore". See details on the Debian bug report #760509. Isn't this a regression ? More to the point : is this documented ? And, oh, by the way : the online help for start says : "/unix Utiliser un chemin Unix et lancer le fichier comme windows explorer." (Use a Unix path and launch the file like Windows Explorer) What in hell is this supposed to mean ???
