[Bug 52667] New: DTS Master Audio Suite Encoder - can not select a save to file location so will not encode
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52667 Bug ID: 52667 Summary: DTS Master Audio Suite Encoder - can not select a save to file location so will not encode Product: Wine Version: 7.4 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: shagooserver(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- This is a change from 7.3. At the bottom right of the GUI there is an area to enter the location of the file you are about to create, normally you click the "Save To" button to enter the location of the file you wish to save (name is stored by the program), alternatively I think you can type the location directly into the space next to the button. With the release of 7.4 it is no longer possible to either click the "Save To" button or enter the address into the space provided. As a result it is not possible to create a file. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I can now select a save to location but have not yet tested the whole thing. By way of background I set up a new wine prefix for each program and leave the default wine prefix (~/.wine) empty. In the case of this DTS program it will not work unless the java it needs is installed into ~/.wine despite the fact it is installed in ~/.winedts. Now that I have changed the theme in ~/.wine to no-theme as well I can now select the save to location. Do you know why Java needs to be installed in ~/.wine? Do you know why Java needs to be installed in ~/.wine?
Can you please show in detail how you installed and ran the programs? I for my part only deal with one .wine folder
You said earlier this is not a wine 7.4 issue, if not, what is it an issue with?
It's a problem with the new "Light" theme that got enabled by default. It's just that older version don't have this theme enabled by default. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52667 --- Comment #17 from Scott <shagooserver(a)gmail.com> --- In reply, I am attempting to provide you the information you requested to the best of my understanding of what you want. The attachment, wine prefixes shows the file explorer view of all my wine prefixes. So after installing wine onto my system including winetricks my first command is: WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine winecfg (windows 7). Now I want to install this DTS program: WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.winedts winecfg (windows 7) I then run: WINEPREFIX=~/.winedts winetricks > Select the default wineprefix > Run Uninstaller (see the attachment, wine install). I click on the install button (top right), navigate to the DTS installation executable and click open which starts program installation. Please note this gives identical results to installing via the terminal, it's just much faster. I know DTS requires Java so I repeat the last step to install Java. At this point DTS will not run. To make it run I need to install Java (and change theme to no-theme) into the prefix ~/.wine. To start DTS I use a quick lancher, the details are in the attachment quick launcher, though again it gives the same results as using the terminal: wine dtshd.exe command. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. bash -c "WINEPREFIX=~/.winedts wine cmd | wine dtshd.exe"
That looks off. You are aware that the "WINEPREFIX" environment variable doesn't affect the second command? Therefore the second command is run in the .wine WINEPREFIX, which is probably not what you want. Also, why did you use a pipe in there? Generally speaking, you need to put everything for a program into a single WINEPREFIX. You're currently juggling .wine and .winedts, which is most likely why things break. Do yourself a favor and install both java and DTS into .winedts. Don't use .wine. Why did you use two WINEPREFIXEs to begin with? Remember, your WINEPREFIX is your virtual windows installation. Therefore, a program and its dependencies belong in the same. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. This forms the basis of my question. Forget the quick launcher, lets just about the terminal command. My understanding is the same as you have written and DTS and java are installed in .winedts. Perhaps the easiest thing to do is to remove java from your .wine prefix and then install DTS and java in another prefix. You will find DTS won't work. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Of course it does work. Just delete your .wine folder, and see at what point it is re-created. That's where you're doing something wrong. My assumption is that you don't set WINEPREFIX somewhere. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
