http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16129 --- Comment #2 from Steve Trelease <steve.trelease(a)sbcglobal.net> 2008-11-20 11:58:46 --- The app began working (i.e. actually showing an intelligible start-up screen) somewhere around v0.9.60 and this persisted until v1.1.0. For versions beyond that, the system locks up with a continually refreshing black screen and continuously beeping system bell. I haven't dug into the diagnostics too much, but it appears the new issue is related to wined3d, which I understand is undergoing many changes. I would prefer to resolve the server addressing issue with an older stable version first so I can actually test the app's features. This is complicated somewhat by the fact that I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 and only devl downloads are available for the new version. If I'm able to get past the initial screen, I think it might be simpler to go after the next problem, which appears to be a regression issue. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16129 --- Comment #4 from Steve Trelease <steve.trelease(a)sbcglobal.net> 2008-11-21 23:53:29 --- Update - the app works with v1.1.9 (i.e. no screen problems) on another system (Compaq Presario laptop) running Ubuntu 8.10. On the original system, I've recreated .wine and reinstalled the app per my instructions, but am still having the screen problem with v1.1.9. On the laptop (i.e. the working system), 'lspci' reports the video card as "ATI Technologies Inc RS300M AGP [Radeon Mobility 9100IGP]". I'm still experiencing the reported bug, though (error 5). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16129 --- Comment #5 from Steve Trelease <steve.trelease(a)sbcglobal.net> 2008-11-23 00:16:31 --- More on video - for the ATI system (which "works"), I'm seeing "radeon" and ati_agp" in the lsmod output (I assume that's what you're asking for). For the non-working system (i.e. the one with the flashing screen), lspci indicates "Intel 82945G/GZ" and lsmod shows "intel_agp" and "i915". Again, I've switched to the ATI box for testing, since I'm getting the clean screen with v1.1.9 and Ubuntu 8.10. BTW, Beyond TV Link v4.9 was released yesterday, but I'm sticking with 4.8.2 for now since the former requires .NET 3.0, which doesn't work with wine. I don't see the old version available for download, so let me know if you need help getting a copy -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16129 --- Comment #6 from Steve Trelease <steve.trelease(a)sbcglobal.net> 2008-12-06 10:52:45 --- Update- The visual effects (i.e. compiz) are responsible for the flashing screen, not the video card/driver. I've set "None" for the Intel video system and am now getting a clean screen. The server addressing error remains as the sticking point, even in 1.1.10. Here are couple of trace notices, apparently related to networking, which may be significant: err:ole:create_server class {001000af-2def-0002-10b6-dc5ba692c858} not registered fixme:ole:CoGetClassObject CLSCTX_REMOTE_SERVER not supported fixme:ras:RasEnumConnectionsW (0xbd7cc0,0x7dbb30c0,0x7dbb30bc),stub! fixme:ras:RasEnumConnectionsW RAS support is not implemented!
