I also experienced a couple of random disconnects and crashes when zoning to Pandaria, but after i cleared out the $HOME/.nv/ cache folder, i zoned around a bit and did not experience any more crashes. Perhaps to reproduce: Use latest GIT -> WoW screen flash bug -> Apply "Descriptors patch" -> Log on to WoW -> Crash Clear out $HOME/.nv/ glcache = WoW seems stable. Not sure, but it might also ofc be a random happening, but will try to test some during the weekend. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46410 --- Comment #3 from Sveinar Søpler <cybermax(a)dexter.no> --- Have done some more playing, and it does seem as vkd3d is causing random crashes and/or disconnects. It MAY have to do with some shader creation thing, but i have not been able to reproduce this in a stable manner... so doing a trace log would create huge amounts of log data. Cleared out all caches (.nv glcache + wow "Cache" folder), and it happened a few times just about or shortly after zoning into a new zone/dungeon. Or as has been mentioned before, zoning into "previous expansion content". There has probably been quite a few changes to textures and whatnot, so when going from BfA zones -> Cata zones and whatnot, there would be creation of cache elements. And it seems as if something weird happens with vkd3d when this occurs. I have not been able to reproduce a particular place this happens tho, nor does it seem to happen when using DXVK and d3d11. I did not test wined3d w/d3d11, cos that is largely unplayable imo. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I have not found a way to reproduce anything meaningful. Several times i have played 2-3 hours without issues at all, so i think this issue could be "anything" tbh. (driver/kernel/wow itself) The only time i had a graphical hang - cos music kept playing - i had played around 2 hours and was mid boss-fight with loads of stuff and effects happening, so naturally i had to be quick at killing off wine and reload. And when i play i play with all logging turned off and custom wine compiled with -DWINE_NO_TRACE_MSGS -DWINE_NO_DEBUG_MSGS. I have a own wine-debug compile for investigating stuff if i find something. I will ofc report anything useful if i find it, and cant do anything but appologize for reporting issues without any proper backing of it. It's fine to report bugs for issues that are hard to reproduce. However, without additional information or steps to reproduce the problem, it is unlikely that the problem will be fixed quickly. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I have not experienced the same problem with this patch. Just logged off from around 3 hours of various dungeon play with latest GIT + the patch, and no such problem like this. Addon related? Since i am more or less just building GIT commits on launchpad/OBS whenever a new push is being made AND include this patch... Is there a chance this somehow is made obsolete in the near forseable future? I mean.. Should i make random tests WITHOUT this patch in case it is fixed by some other commit, or is it just some "code in progress" still? https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=63174&action=diff PS. WoW works fine WITH this patch tho, so i am not complaining, but since i do not TEST without it, i dont really know if it is redundant or not due to some other commit. As i travel I see texture flashes, and wrong colour and fonts in the character names. I self compiled wine and vkd3d from the respective gits. Currently Wine does not support what is needed for World of Warcraft to start with vkd3d (d3d12). Until that is supported officially, i do not think this particular issue is worked on for that game.
