[Bug 10673] New: Gnome panel bars overlap Halo in fullscreen mode
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10673 Summary: Gnome panel bars overlap Halo in fullscreen mode Product: Wine Version: 0.9.50. Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-x11driver AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: ben(a)atomnet.co.uk Created an attachment (id=9500) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=9500) Image of the overlapping bars When running Halo in fullscreen mode, the Gnome panel bars overlap the game while fullscreen. Note that this isn't http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7771 as am I not using Composite. It's not http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3312 either as the games that effected (Fahrenheit, etc) now seem to work fine, so it must be something else causing this issue, unless it IS somehow still bug 3312 (but then why would most apps work and one not?). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10673 --- Comment #1 from Yolande Haneder <yolande(a)haneder.biz> 2007-12-05 05:50:11 --- I've seen in Word 2003 too. You can't see the bar with the page number unless you get in windowed mode (covered by the panel bar). When Office crashes and you reopen to get a backup of the document, you can't click on the button to close the window where documents saved by windows are shown unless you get to the windowed modus. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Please note that I am actually using Compiz, but even with the XFWM4 window manager, this bug still occurs. So it is not a Compiz-specific bug. However, I also noticed that because of this bug, Compiz does not consider this a fullscreen 3D application. I have the "Unredirect Fullscreen Windows" option enabled for Compiz to avoid any Compiz-related FPS slowdown when running 3D applications fullscreen. Compiz doesn't unredirect Half-Life 2, causing it to run slower than it should. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I tested this under IceWM, XFCE and MWM. The only WM/DE under which I don't see this problem (but resizes and moves all the active windows once the full screen application quits) is KDE. P.S. compiz, xcompmgr and the rest of the composite bunch are disabled. - Gilboa -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

View the screen shots of each bug, they are two completely different issues. Gilboa Davara: You need to pick a bug, check the screen shots and see which the issue is. Just to reiterate: This bug is DE bars overlapping games/programs, i.e. the program seems to be below the desktop rather than above it. Bug 8785 is full-screen games being forced into a window. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Ben, You are correct; while looking like it's being forced into a window [1], it is in-fact, being overlapped by the DE panel. (The weird clipping is another issue all-together) In short, I seem to be hitting this bug - and you're right, this bug doesn't seem to be a duplicate of 8785. - Gilboa [1] http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=10932 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10673 --- Comment #14 from Gilboa Davara <gilboad(a)gmail.com> 2008-03-08 05:36:00 --- Seems somewhat fixed. The panel still overlaps the application (FIFA08 Demo under IceWM) when it goes full screen - but unlike 56, I can now switch back to the application (Alt-Tab) and it goes full screen. On the other hand (might not be related), when I closed the demo the resolution failed to return to the original desktop resolution (1280x1024) and stayed at 800x600. - Gilboa -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I'll give it a try during the weekend. Random apps exhibit this behaviour, not all. I've had issues lately though and I can't get Wine to compile so someone else may be able to check before me. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
