[Bug 12912] New: Torque Game Builder: Blanks the screen.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12912 Summary: Torque Game Builder: Blanks the screen. Product: Wine Version: 0.9.60 Platform: PC URL: http://www.garagegames.com/pg/demo.php?id=63 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: jeff(a)jones.be When you try and run the Torque Game Builder application the entire screen goes black. The mouse cursor however is still visible and does change if you move it around the screen (based on the elements that I assume the mouse is hovering over). If you run the application in a virtual desktop the same thing happens. The virtual desktop is visible for a few seconds before the entire screen goes blank. Restarting X is the only way I know to recover the system. I am not sure but I think the IDE makes use of directX. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

The mouse pointer is still visible on the screen and I can drag the Wine TGB window onto monitor 1 and use the application. On exit, monitor 0 returns to normal. Troubleshooting: - Swapped monitor designations in Xorg.conf. The problem follows the logical designation. In other words, I can reproduce the problem on both physical monitors. - Installed Blender in Wine to validate similar functionality. Blender works fine. - Cloned the Blender configuration and installed TGB to it. Same problem - Ran Wine -opengl. Same problem. - Disabled shaders in the POL config. Same problem - Set "virtual desktop and disabled windowing manager control and decoration in the POL config. Same problem. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Left TGB running and started Catalyst Control Panel. Clicked "Display Manager" and the red display identification blocks showed up on both monitors. Clicked cancel to close Catalyst Control Panel and screen 0 came back! Able to drag windows, including TGB to it, as normal. - Closed TGB and restarted it. Screen black again. Catalyst start and cancel, screen fixed again. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12912 --- Comment #12 from Daniel Lee <leed_public(a)hotmail.com> 2010-07-26 19:43:15 --- Troubleshooting: - Remembered that TGB supports drawing the interface in D3D as well as OpenGL. Ran TGB and checked default render. It is OpenGL. Switched it to D3D. Performance was slow, but the problem went away. In fact, the moment I changed to D3D in TGB, the black screen started working again. When I switched back to OpenGL, the screen immediately turned black again. - Ran TGB from the command line, and then exited. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12912 --- Comment #13 from GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> 2010-10-02 07:34:46 CDT --- The issue is still there, using Wine-1.3.4 and the latest demo version of the application. The display is black after starting. Recently I've stumbled upon a game which uses the same Torque engine: And Yet It Moves and the same black screen problem is present. It turned out that that was a regression, and a patch was sent by the author. The patch in bug #24598 fixes the problem in this application, too. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
