[Bug 40243] New: Korg Nano editor USB MIDI driver won't install, requires Administrator Priveleges
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40243 Bug ID: 40243 Summary: Korg Nano editor USB MIDI driver won't install, requires Administrator Priveleges Product: Wine Version: 1.8 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: hairydesertday(a)hotmail.com Distribution: --- I can't run Korg's Nano Series editor. The Korg Kontrol Editor itself installs, but I must have "administrator privileges" (Windows not Linux) for the USB-MIDI driver tools. And without the USB MIDI driver, the program doesn't see my Nanokontrol. "In order to install the driver, you must have Administrator privilege" running KXStudio (KDE) 64 bit. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. It apperenlty pops up that message because of missing registry key: 002a:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyExA(80000002,0040f67c "SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Drivers32",00000000,00020006,0033fc24) ret=0040408b 002a:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyExA() retval=00000002 ret=0040408b 002a:Call user32.GetDesktopWindow() ret=004040b2 002a:Ret user32.GetDesktopWindow() retval=0002002e ret=004040b2 002a:Call user32.MessageBoxA(0002002e,00410790 "In order to install the driver,\nyou must have an Administrator privilege.",0043fc60 "KORG MIDI Driver Setup Utility",00000010) ret=004040b9 Could you try if adding key works arounnd it for you? (do `regedit drivers32key.reg` BTW: AFAIK installing a windows driver is not going to make your app work like expected, as windows drivers won`t work in wine, but i might be wrong? Nevertheless the installer should just work in wine -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40243 --- Comment #2 from Flipflop McFly <hairydesertday(a)hotmail.com> --- Hi and thanks for this. Unfortunately, I don't understand what to do - my understanding of Windows is worse than my understanding of Linux! I've run regedit, and navigated to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\
From there, I've both added a line in the CurrentVersion list, of: Drivers32 / REG_SZ / 4
and added a folder (in CurrentVersion) called Drivers32, within which I both set the (default) value to 4, and added a line as above (Drivers32/REG_SZ/4). I saved your attachment as "drivers32key.reg" and run "regedit drivers32key.reg" and I still can't get it! I know that THIS issue is due to my own incompetence with registry keys, etc. Are you willing to explicitly tell me what to do? Thanks! -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40243 --- Comment #4 from Louis Lenders <xerox_xerox2000(a)yahoo.co.uk> ---
I saved your attachment as "drivers32key.reg" and run "regedit drivers32key.reg"
That should be enough. if not, start in clean wineprefix and try again. for me the `administrator`s ` messagebox doesn`t pop up anymore then. BTW, even if the installer complains about missing administrator rights, it still seems to install the driverall the driver-stuff -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
