The crash occurs with Pulseaudio and Alsa as well. When EAX support is enabled in Staging the game plays the videos properly and gets to the title screen. Eventually, it hangs in the main menu when the new game, load game, options screen appears. Native dsound.dll doesn't help. Tried in Windows XP and Windows 7 profiles. No demo version available.
