Does it help if you disable the gameux.dll in winecfg's Libraries tab?
That seems to work like a charm. The delay to launch is a pain in the %$£%£ I dropped back to 1.1.41 earlier to see if I could find a version it worked with (and then progress upwards) and try and resolve it, but 1.1.41 still had the problem, so I need to go back further (unless its in all versions) I just need to find the time, and also the one thing at a time.
