[Bug 57806] New: visual and response lags in Guitar Pro v8.1.3 (build 121)
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57806 Bug ID: 57806 Summary: visual and response lags in Guitar Pro v8.1.3 (build 121) Product: Wine Version: 9.22 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: acidbong(a)tilde.club Distribution: --- Created attachment 78013 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=78013 Guitar Pro in Wine-9.20 I've been using Wine-staging for running Guitar Pro on Linux (Gentoo, then NixOS), and it's been smooth until 9.20 -> 9.22 update (https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/359908, nixpkgs maintainers skipped v9.21). Then visual lags (constant, as if the program runs at 5 FPS) started to happen. Welp, they aren't solely visual, responsiveness also suffers. Audio, however, doesn't lag and is still smooth. The lag is also present on Wine10. Regression also confirmed on Wine-development v9.22 and with a demo version of the program and on different PCs (first on an Intel-based laptop (Core i3-7100), then on an AMD-based one (AMD Ryzen 5 5500U)), both with integrated GPUs. Camera recording (not screen capture, because `simplescreenrecorder` (haven't tried other tools) for some reason reduced these lags): https://0x0.st/8KNw.mp4 Logs are attached below. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. That you should try installing ntlm_auth / winbind and see if that helps. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Is that really necessary? Notice that this line was present in the older log as well and didn't affect the performance at all (also why would it help? winbind is a network/storage thing, and my issue is about graphics) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Install the winbind library, run the application, and view the log content -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57806 --- Comment #7 from Acid Bong <acidbong(a)tilde.club> --- Welp, adding samba to path doesn't help. You can see that the ntlm error is gone (will attach the log below), but I still experience lags in the program -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57806 --- Comment #10 from Acid Bong <acidbong(a)tilde.club> --- Created attachment 79305 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=79305 Guitar Pro in Wine-10.14 And somewhere between 10.7 and 10.12 (my distro took a bit longer than usual jump: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/413303) Guitar Pro stopped launching at all. Welp, the process is still there, but it stalls at 230 MB (normally it reaches 380 MB on start and circa 500 MB after opening the first file), and no graphical window appears. Still using dwm (x11 window manager). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57806 --- Comment #11 from Acid Bong <acidbong@tilde.club> --- Hello back from December 2025. Wine in Nixpkgs is already at v10.18, and Guitar Pro (8.1.4 since April, but its versions don't matter) still doesn't load GUI, and i'm using stable v10. Any extra tips/workarounds? Should I to provide more info than Wine's dump? I wouldn't wanna reach v11 where Guitar Pro can't run. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57806 --- Comment #12 from Acid Bong <acidbong@tilde.club> --- I wonder if this[1] Yabridge issue is related (I don't use it, but maybe). http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57806 --- Comment #13 from Acid Bong <acidbong@tilde.club> --- Quick update: was trying out Wayland and found out a couple of interesting things: - stable Wine (10.0): runs in Xwayland without lags, unlike in pure X; native Wayland is also lagless - unstable/staging Wine (10.20): neither X nor Wayland create a window for Guitar Pro anymore (the output is identical, so i won't post it here) I'm not considering the switch to Wayland yet for other reasons, so this issue remains relevant to me. However, i'll create a new one for not creating a window, as it's common for both X and Xwayland -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
